Welcome to the Shen group! We are a research group in the College of Materials Science and Engineering at Hunan University led by Prof. Ke Shen.

Prof. Shen also holds appointments in the Hunan Province Key Laboratory for Advanced Carbon Materials and Applied Technology.

We explore the science and technology of carbon materials and nuclear graphite.

Prof. Shen won the First Prize in Technological Invention of the China Non-Metallic Mineral Science and Technology Award.

From November 6th to 7th, the 2024 China Non-Metallic Minerals Industry Conference was successfully convened in Maoming, Guangdong Province. Prof. Shen was invited to give a keynote speech at the International Conference on Nuclear Graphite Experts in 2024. Matrix graphite is used as a structural material, thermal conductor, moderator, and secondary fission product barrier for fuel elements in high-temperature gas-cooled reactors (HTRs).
