Professor Ke Shen received a B.E. from Tsinghua University, and obtained a Ph.D. degree from Tsinghua University in 2013, for work on nuclear grade graphite. He did postdoctoral research at INET of Tsinghua on fuel element of high-temperature gas-cooled reactors (HTRs). He also paid one year visit to University of California, Berkeley as a visiting scholar, working on thermal properties of graphite. He began his faculty appointment in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Hunan University, China in 2017, and became a full professor in 2021.

His research interests include the physics and chemistry of carbon, nuclear grade graphite, fuel element of HTRs, natural graphite, and high purity graphite. He has published nearly 50 papers. For details, please see Google Scholar.
